A move to outsource the distribution of the Press and Journal and Evening Express newspapers has been confirmed.

Owner DC Thomson is holding a redundancy consultation with 59 affected staff in Aberdeen and Inverness.

The delivery of the Aberdeen Newspaper titles will be handled by Menzies Distribution from Monday 10 September.

Ellis Watson, chief executive officer for publishing, said the decision was taken to prevent business declining.
