Elgin welcomes RAF Lossiemouth homecoming parade

Hundreds of people turned out as RAF personnel who have just returned to Moray from Afghanistan took part in a homecoming parade in Elgin.

More than 150 RAF Lossiemouth personnel returned last week after a six-month tour of duty.

They marched through Elgin on Wednesday afternoon, the timing allowing local school children the chance to attend.

A formation of four Tornados from RAF Lossiemouth also performed a fly past to mark the event.

The troops - specialists in guarding airfields - were involved in a major firefight with Taliban insurgents who attacked Camp Bastion in September.

It left two US marines and 14 of the attackers dead.

Several members of the contingent were wounded during the tour of duty.
