Aberdeen City Council is to press ahead with a £10m bid to help pay for a revamp of the city's art gallery.

Members of the urgent business committee voted unanimously to submit the funding application to the Heritage Lottery Fund.

It is estimated the redevelopment of the Schoolhill building will cost a total of £33m.

The project is being described as the cornerstone of the council's bid to become UK City of Culture 2017.
