Aberdeen Donside by-election to be held on 20 June

Brian Adam was described by First Minister Alex Salmond as an "exceptional" MSP

A by-election which is taking place following the death of Aberdeen MSP Brian Adam will be held on Thursday 20 June, it has been announced.

The SNP member for Aberdeen Donside passed away last month, aged 64, after a battle with cancer.

First Minister Alex Salmond said father-of-five Mr Adam was an "outstanding politician and an exceptional human being".

Hundreds of people attended his funeral on Friday.
