Howes Road was preferred over three other options

A new permanent halting site for travellers in Aberdeen has been identified.

Howes Road, between Northfield and Bucksburn, has been chosen as the preferred location.

It was chosen over three other possible sites at Blackdog, Scotstown Road recycling centre, and the former council depot at Springhill Road.

City councillors will get the chance to discuss the Howes Road proposals next week.

Officers had undertaken a consultation process with the affected community councils.

A spokesman for the council's Labour group said the progression of the project depended on the Scottish government approving a by-law to outlaw travellers stopping in parks and other public places.
