Work to tackle the traffic blackspot at Aberdeen's Haudagain roundabout is expected to take about two years, it has been announced.

The junction at the bottom of Anderson Drive is a notorious bottleneck.

It is hoped work will be ready after the Aberdeen bypass is completed by winter 2017.

Transport Minister Derek Mackay said: "Today's news will I'm sure be met with jubilation and relief in equal measure by road users across the region."

Mr Mackay said: "With work on Haudagain now in sight, the kind of congestion seen daily at Haudagain will before long be a thing of the past."

Members of the public are getting the chance to assess the proposed design, external.

Exhibitions will be held at the Lord Provost Henry E Rae Community Centre in Manor Avenue on Wednesday from 12:00 to 19:00 and Thursday from 10:00 to 18:00.
