A road built in Inverurie more than a year ago which was deemed unsafe could take its first traffic in November.

The road was built to allow access to forthcoming housing developments to the north of the Aberdeenshire town.

It is joined by roundabouts to the roads linking the town with Oldmeldrum and Rothienorman.

Contractors are expected to begin remedial works in August, and it is hoped the road will open in early November.

A roundabout was said to pose a risk of lorries toppling over.
