Aberdeen's Lord Provost is to stand down at the next elections in May, he has announced.

George Adam took up the post in 2012.

The councillor for Hilton, Stockethill and Woodside said: "Next May, I will have been an elected member of the council for 18 years and lord provost for the last five.

"It has been the greatest honour of my life and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the role. Each and every day in this job, I have been humbled."
