Teenager arrested after reported rape in Inverurie

Police were alerted to a serious sexual assault near the River Don in Inverurie on Monday

A teenager has been arrested in connection with a reported rape near a river in Aberdeenshire.

Police said they were continuing to investigate Monday evening's incident near the River Don and St James' Place in Inverurie.

The force said a 16-year-old male had been arrested in connection with a serious sexual assault.

He was released pending further inquiries.
