Budget plans by Dumfries and Galloway Council's Labour administration to cut more than £8m from spending in the next financial year have been agreed.

They were voted through by 22 votes to 17 with two abstentions.

Alternative SNP group budget proposals would have seen slightly less cut from spending in 2015/16.

However, after a series of votes the plans put forward by the minority administration were agreed.

The local authority has previously staged a series of public consultation events over the budget proposals.

It is estimated that over the next three years the council will have to deliver savings totalling £32m.

Full details of the budget have been posted on the local authority's website., external
