Some Scottish Borders schools stay closed for third day

A small number of schools are shut for a third consecutive in the Scottish Borders.
The majority of the region's primaries and secondaries have reopened as normal.
It had been hoped they could all open but a total of 12 across the area have failed to do so.
Scottish Borders Council said its decision to shut all its 71 schools on Wednesday and Thursday had been for safety reasons and the snow forecast.
The primary schools which have remained shut on Friday are Broughton, Newlands, West Linton, Kirkhope, Yarrow, Heriot, Halyrude, Eddleston, Priorsford, Kingsland and Newcastleton.
Peebles High School is also closed.
