Minister says NHS is 'preparing for winter pressures'

The NHS is well prepared to deal with winter pressures but there may be tough days to come, Welsh Health Minister Mark Drakeford said.

"There is no way anybody can predict what is going to happen during the winter. Last winter was the longest and coldest since 1963," he told BBC Wales' Sunday Politics programme.

"We will hit some difficult days during this winter too but what we have to do is ensure we have done everything we can to prepare."

Mr Drakeford also hit back at criticisms levelled at the Welsh government's management of the NHS by Prime Minister David Cameron during the last prime minister's weekly Commons question session.
