John Summers High School closure agreed by councillors

Councillors have agreed to push forward plans to close a Flintshire high school despite local opposition.

A previous decision to close John Summers High School in Queensferry was referred back to Flintshire's cabinet meeting to ensure the transport needs of affected children had been assessed.

Members reaffirmed their earlier decision and voted to close the school in 2017 during a meeting on Tuesday.

Low numbers of pupils prompted the proposals to shut the school.
