Portmeirion's Festival No 6 sees ticket sales rise 30%

Organisers say ticket sales for the third Festival No 6 Gwynedd are 30% up on last year with the Pet Shop Boys topping the bill.

The music, arts and culture festival gets under way today at Portmeirion with comedians Josh Widdicombe, Henning Wehn and Charlie Higson.

Musicians include Beck, Neneh Cherry, Paul Heaton and The Undertones.

There will be a tribute featuring actor Rhys Ifans to mark the centenary of the birth of poet Dylan Thomas .

Also involved are director Kevin Allen of Twin Town fame, and BBC6 Music poet-in-residence Murray Lachlan Young, who are all currently filming a big screen adaptation of Thomas's Under Milk Wood.
