An "extreme dine" has taken place on a mountain in Snowdonia with rescue workers and RAF crew members.

A dinner of roast lamb along with dessert was consumed on top of 3,000ft-high Tryfan on Saturday.

The meal was a farewell feast to mark the end of RAF helicopters assisting in search and rescue in the area.

Members of Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation and crews of C Flight 22 Squadron enjoyed the dinner with wives and partners.

Being a formal occasion, the Ogwen members were in black tie while the RAF wore mess dress complete with medals.

Prior to the meal, a new Bristow's S92 rescue helicopter landed at the rear of Ogwen base on a familiarisation flight.

The privatised helicopter service will take over UK search and rescue from the yellow RAF helicopters in July.
