I meant no disrespect, says UKIP's Hamilton on sexism row

UKIP assembly group leader Neil Hamilton has been told off by Presiding Officer Elin Jones for using sexist language and sexual innuendo towards two women AMs.

In his maiden speech, last Wednesday, Mr Hamilton described Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood and Liberal Democrat AM Kirsty Williams as "political concubines" in First Minister Carwyn Jones's "harem".

On Tuesday, assembly Presiding Officer Elin Jones said she found the "insult of the integrity of other members through sexist language and sexual innuendo to be unacceptable".

Mr Hamilton told the assembly he had not intended to upset anybody and meant no disrespect when he made the comments.
