Welsh Assembly member increase 'should be put to public vote'
Any plan to increase the number of Welsh Assembly members should be put to a public vote, a political campaigner has said.
A report by the Wales Governance Centre has called for the present 60 AMs to be increased to 87 to handle the Senedd's growing workload due to further devolution and Brexit.
Presiding Officer Elin Jones has said the assembly is "over-stretched" and needs more members.
But Rachel Banner, who led the 2011 referendum campaign against increasing the assembly's powers, said voters had little trust in politicians who had denied wanting to expand the assembly.
