UKIP's Neil Hamilton says AM's defection shows weakness of character

UKIP AM Mark Reckless has confirmed he is joining the Welsh Conservative group in the assembly.

Elected as a regional AM in South Wales East, he will not join the Conservative Party but will sit as a Conservative AM.

It makes the Tory group the second largest in the Senedd.

UKIP assembly group leader Neil Hamilton said Mr Reckless had "betrayed the trust" of party supporters and had "no mandate" to be a Conservative AM.
