Drone footage marks halfway point of £1bn road

Drone footage has revealed the progress made on a new 10-mile dual carriageway being built between Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

National Highways says the A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet project, costing about £1bn, is at its halfway point.

More than seven million tonnes of earth has been moved and 60,000 tonnes of road surface has been laid.

Dan Trathen, project director at contractor Skanska, said: "We're laying the foundation for safer, faster, and more connected communities."

The scheme is on track to finish in spring 2027 and it will cut about 10 minutes off journey times for drivers currently driving this route, National Highways says.
