Serial shoplifter hides steaks in mobility scooter

CCTV captured a shoplifter hiding steaks worth more than £250 in a mobility scooter just six days after he had pleaded guilty to eight other counts of theft.

The footage shows Malcolm Ravenhill, 63, of Dogsthorpe Road in Peterborough, placing meat in the rear compartment of his scooter at the Orton Goldhay Co-op on 2 September.

He admitted theft at Peterborough Magistrates' Court last week and was jailed for a year.

PC Sam Malton from Cambridgeshire Police said: "Ravenhill is a prolific offender who clearly didn't learn his lesson having been given a suspended sentence less than a week before this offence."
