Full supermoon filmed in Northumberland

A lucky photographer captured stunning time-lapse footage of the full supermoon above Northumberland's Dunstanburgh Castle.

Ian Sproat, of MJE Photography, said the footage was captured during an "absolutely beautiful evening".

The glowing sphere has been seen across the UK and there is still a chance to catch a glimpse in the coming days.

Despite being called a blue moon, the moon does not actually turn blue.

The supermoon, or blue moon, turned red on Sunday night due to smoke from wildfires in North America sitting in the atmosphere above the UK.
