Watch: Push in the face by wife was joke not domestic dispute, says Macron

Footage shows the moment Emmanuel Macron is shoved in the face by his wife as they touched down in Hanoi, Vietnam on Sunday evening.

In the clip, Brigitte Macron is largely obscured from view, with only her hands visible as she pushes Macron.

The French President initially appears startled but quickly composes himself and waves to cameras below.

Elysee sources were quoted by French media as saying that what was caught on camera was "a moment in which the president and his wife were unwinding by goofing about one last time before the start of the trip" and Macron said they were "just joking about as we do".
