'We dig holes but don't usually end up in them'

A digger driver has described getting that sinking feeling after becoming stuck in a silt-filled pond.

Work was being carried out on the Doctors Pond, in Great Dunmow, Essex.

"We dig a lot of holes but we don't usually end up in them," said Jonathan Little, the digger's owner.
