Racism victim: 'I'm not going to run any more'

A mother who was racially abused in the street recalls her shock at being told she "should not be here".

Shakila Meli was called a "dirty Muslim" in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, and accused of being in the country illegally.

"I didn't see that coming," she said, adding that she started to panic as she was worried about what else the man shouting abuse might do.

She said her daughter ran off, shouting: "mum, we have to run!", but she replied: "I'm not going to run any more."

The man shouting abuse has since been jailed for two years after admitting racial harassment.
