New York food bank receives 13,000 salmon, but there's a catch
An upstate New York salmon farm facing closure donated 13,000 live fish to a local food bank. With a tight deadline, volunteers and staff worked rapidly to capture, process, and freeze the salmon.
LocalCoho farm started as a sustainable salmon farming system but unfortunately could not raise enough capital to become profitable. The donation will supply vital protein to over 240 food pantries, shelters, and community kitchens.
