Footage released of deadly arson attack on family home

CCTV images have been released of a man starting a fire in which another died and four people were injured in Wolverhampton.

Emergency services were called to a blaze at a property on Plascom Road, East Park, shortly after 01:00 BST on 25 June.

Akashdeep Singh, 26, died in hospital.

Four other family members were injured in the fire, and two weeks on a 52-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy remain in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Two men, one in his 50s and a second in his 20s, were discharged from hospital after being treated for minor injuries.

In a tribute issued through West Midlands Police, Mr Singh's family said he was a "kind, helpful, and deeply religious person".

They added: "A true hero, our precious son, whose boundless kindness, infectious laughter, and unwavering love filled our lives with immeasurable joy; his memory will forever be cherished, and the depth of his absence is profoundly felt every single day."

Police renewed their appeal for information, saying they believed the video would help bring the perpetrators to justice.
