Volunteers trying to put brake on speeding drivers

Volunteers are working across Staffordshire to help police tackle speeding motorists.

According to the AA, 72 per cent of all road deaths occur on country roads, with blind bends and slow-moving tractors among the potential hazards.

In Staffordshire, community speed watch volunteers monitor crash hotspots.

On a recent national day of action, more than 50 locations were checked in the county.

One resident in Barlaston, near Stone, said cars drove at up to 80mph through the village.
