Rest centre set up as homes evacuated after fire

Residents have been evacuated following a house fire in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Police were called to reports of the fire in Ferndale at 01:30 BST on Monday, and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said there were no serious injuries.

Rhondda Cynon Taf council said a rest centre has been set up "to accommodate residents overnight", of which nine were using it from four households on Monday morning.

They were engaging with residents "to understand any housing and practical support they need to get through this awful situation", a spokesperson said.
