Locals unite to keep treasured field public
Locals are banding together to save a much-loved green space from an open sale that could result in the land being blocked off or used for houses.
Daisybank Field, a piece of land at the bottom of Cheltenham's Leckhampton Hill, has long been used for blackberry picking, sledding and walks.
It was due to be put up for auction but, in March, Warden Hill Parish Council managed to secure its status as an asset of community value, giving locals six months to prepare a bid to buy the land.
Residents have now formed a community interest company with the intention of doing exactly that.
