Bodycam footage shows police fighting off knifeman

Three "heroic" police officers who were stabbed and slashed while tackling a man wielding a knife have been honoured for their bravery.

PC Maverick Reddington, from Cleveland Police, was stabbed under his armpit and described what happened as "absolute bedlam".

In 2023, they were responding to a call over concerns about a man’s behaviour when the situation quickly turned violent.

The officers were called "Cleveland’s bravest and best", risking their lives to protect the public.

They were honoured at the national Police Bravery Awards in London.

Mark Fox, 35, of Mill Lane, Billingham, County Durham, pleaded guilty to wounding three officers but denied intent.

He was jailed for 11 years and the judge, Recorder Aisha Wadoodi, commended the officers for their bravery.
