Watch: Building collapses in busy village centre

Dramatic footage has shown the collapse of a building in a busy Greater Manchester village.

Crowds gasped as bricks fell and parts of the three-storey building collapsed in on itself in Ashley Road, Hale, on Saturday.

Local resident Martyn Pass, who was shopping nearby, said: "Bits started to drop off - it was a strange thing."

Large cracks reportedly appeared on Friday, prompting road closures and the evacuation of nearby businesses.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called at about 15:40 GMT on Saturday "to reports of a dangerous building".

"Firefighters worked with Trafford Council and Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe, evacuating neighbouring buildings as a precaution."
