Watch: Water spout spotted off the Welsh coast
A water spout whipped up by the winds off the Welsh coast has been captured on video.
Josh Evans filmed the rare weather phenomenon near Aberdovey in Gwynedd on Sunday.
"It was an incredible sight and something I've always wanted to see," he said.
BBC Wales and S4C weather presenter Elin Alexander said water spouts form when winds blowing in two different directions meet over the sea.
The movement can make the air rise in a horizontal spin near the surface, which can turn into a vertical spin that sucks water skyward, she explained.
They usually do not last longer than five minutes, she added, with winds inside the water spout often reaching speeds of faster than 60mph (97km/h).
