CCTV captures 'irresponsible railway photoshoot'
Network Rail has released footage of people risking their lives by taking part in railway photoshoots, crossing in front of oncoming trains and even lying down between the tracks.
The firm has published examples of some of the worst "reckless" behaviour at the pedestrian level crossing in Burton Joyce, Nottinghamshire, over the past year.
It has done so to urge people to stay off the railway and not put others at risk during the school summer holidays.
According to Network Rail, there were 2,755 incidents of trespassing recorded across the East Midlands in 2023-24, and 219 of those involved children.
Hayley Manners, Network Rail's community safety manager in the East Midlands, said: "Every time someone strays on to the tracks, they are placing themselves at risk of serious, life-changing injury or worse.
"We hope that sharing the CCTV will act as a deterrent and show that acting irresponsibly on the railway is extremely dangerous."
