Marvel and DC move over - meet film's latest 'superhero' teens

Move over Marvel and see you later DC - the "superheroes" at a Belfast special school are the latest to take on the film world after winning a prestigious UK-wide award.

Superhero School, made by pupils from Park School in Belfast, won the Best Film in the aged 12-15 prize at the Into Film awards.

The film, featuring characters such as Quicklight, Speedy, Alien and a variety of other supers, was announced as the winner by Bad Sisters actor and writer Sharon Horgan at a ceremony in London's Leicester Square.

It featured 11 pupils in acting roles and teacher Jon McKinley as "Super Tea".

"To think that we were just making a wee movie before Christmas and now they've just won an award, it's pretty unbelievable," he said.
