Video shows items hurled at asylum protest police

Officers were assaulted and their vehicles damaged during a protest at a hotel used to house asylum seekers, Essex Police said.

Hundreds of people gathered at the site in Epping on Thursday, as well as a smaller pro-refugee demonstration.

Footage showed the crowd cheering as projectiles, including bottles, landed on officers and counter-protesters.

The force said one suffered minor injuries to their neck, and the hotel itself was damaged.
