Wildfires rage in Pacific Northwest US and western Canada

Wildfires are burning in the US Pacific Northwest and in western Canada.

The 11,000 km sq (4,200 sq mi) Jasper National Park in Alberta and the nearby local municipality are under evacuation orders due to a wildfire south of the town.

The town of Williams Lake, British Columbia, was threatened by a fast-moving fire that broke out on Sunday. It is now being held by fire crews.

Hot and windy weather has sparked a series of fires in Washington and Oregon in the US.
