Plaid promises 'best start in life' for children

Wales' children will get the "best possible start in life" if Plaid Cymru wins the Senedd election, its leader has said.

Rhun ap Iorwerth pledged youngsters aged nine months to four years old will get free childcare if the party wins power from Labour in May.

He told the Plaid conference the "transformative" policy would offer at least 20 hours for 48 weeks a year by 2031.

Labour has led Wales since the start of devolution in 1999, and has dominated Welsh politics for a century.
