Rib company saves gannet from fishing line

A gannet has been saved after it was caught in discarded fishing lines off the coast of Jersey.

Jersey Seafaris was heading back from Les Minquiers on Saturday when it came across two gannets in distress - one had died before the crew could save it.

Josh Dearing, who stepped in to help, said: "We came across what we thought was some balloons...we headed over to go and pick them up and then we were greeted by these two gannets.

"I think it was well worth a couple of scratches and pecs."
