Watch: What drivers make of town's parking charges
Drivers in a town centre have given their verdict on having to pay about £4 for two hours' parking.
BBC Politics East spoke to people about parking in Bury St Edmunds, covered by West Suffolk Council, with some describing the charges as "expensive" and "a little steep".
Government data shows councils in the East of England made £38m in profit from on-street and off-street parking in 2024-25, up from £36m in 2021-22.
A West Suffolk Council spokesman said: "The council invests heavily in its car parks to ensure they are safe and attractive places to park and all 30 of them have been independently assessed."
