AfD is 'absolutely delighted' - BBC reports from the party's HQ
Voters in Germany have put the country's conservatives under Friedrich Merz in pole position for election victory.
The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) looks set for a second place finish, with its biggest-ever share of the national vote, predicted at over 20%.
