Watch: Man drives wrong way down major road

A man from Ipswich who drove the wrong way down the A12 while being pursued by police has been given a suspended prison sentence and banned from driving.

Gazza Vinyard, 34, admitted to six offences at Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Friday, including dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and stalking a woman over 10 weeks.

Footage from police shows officers chasing Vinyard, who was wanted for domestic-related stalking offences, as he drove the wrong way down the A12 at Foxhall, near Ipswich, on 9 September.

He was sentenced to 52 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, and disqualified from driving for 24 months. He was also ordered to pay £197 in charges.

A Suffolk Police spokesperson said Vinyard posed a "serious" risk to both road users and in a domestic setting.
