Gething avoids criminal probe donation questions

Vaughan Gething has avoided answering a question about receiving donations from a firm linked to a criminal investigation at the time.

The first minister accepted £200,000 from a firm controlled by millionaire businessman David Neal after Natural Resources Wales launched a criminal investigation into one of his companies in December for suspected environmental offences.

Mr Gething, who narrowly won the Welsh Labour leader contest earlier this year, declined to answer questions from a BBC reporter at the Urdd Eisteddfod in Maldwyn, Powys.

"I've answered lots of questions about donations. I'm here at the Urdd to meet businesses, I've got lots of people to see," he said.

A spokesperson for Welsh Labour said that the issues had "previously been addressed by Vaughan Gething and are a matter of public record".
