D-Day veteran, 100, revisits Normandy 80 years on
A 100-year-old D-Day veteran has returned to the Normandy beach he stormed eight decades before.
Reginald Pye, from Burry Port in Carmarthenshire, was a Royal Engineer back in 1944 and cleared mines during the landings.
He met with Princess Anne as part of the celebrations commemorating the Allied invasion of Europe, which freed it from Nazi oppression.
The contribution of Welsh troops like Reg played a big part in the ceremonies held both in northern France and here in the UK.
