Medieval knight in training for Great North Run

James Lovatt, aka Sir Runs a Lot, is a self-proclaimed knight of Newcastle Castle who is taking on the Great North Run while wearing a suit of armour.

He is fundraising for the Heart of the City Partnership charity, which maintains the Black Gate and the castle keep.

"Every penny that we raise is going to go towards developing new experiences for people with limited vision and mobility," said Mr Lovatt, who will don a full 25kg suit of armour if he hits his fundraising target of £5,000.

"The more money we raise, the more armour I'm gonna wear."

His equipment will include medieval chainmail atop a padded undercoat, leg plates, gloves, coif, full helm and even a sword and shield.
