Middlesbrough and Hartlepool rioters jailed

Two men who joined disorder after getting drunk at the bingo and a woman who pushed a bin into police officers are among those jailed for their parts in violent unrest in the North East.

Ryan Sheers, 29, and his 54-year-old partner Steven Mailen were each jailed for two years and two months.

The pair spent more than 10 minutes shouting and gesturing at a line of officers and attempted to "incite the crowd to use violence" during unrest in Hartlepool, Teesside Crown Court heard.

A police dog bit Sheers on the buttocks and both he and Mailen were arrested.

Stacey Vint, 34, was jailed for 20 months for her part in violent disorder in Middlesbrough.

Footage showed Vint pushing a bin into a line of officers before falling to the ground.
