Take a sneak peek at this year's carnival costumes

For more than 50 years, a group of artists and families have been designing Carnival costumes in the heart of Harlesden.

Mahogany is a "family of families" who make large scale kinetic sculptures and carnival costumes for the whole community. The team has been working on 150 costumes for Sunday and Monday.

Their costumes utilise the human body in the art form of “Mas Making”, Masquerade or Street Theatre. Every year, a new theme is chosen which they say must be relevant to the community and reflect the political climate. This year, their theme is Disphora, a cry for peace.

BBC Radio London's Aminata Kamara explored the costume shop where their carnival costumes are made.
