Watch: Top five tips on how to eat like a climatarian

A system for displaying the climate impact of food has been developed by a not-for-profit organisation.

Cherwell Collective in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, is dedicated to preventing surplus food from going to landfill.

As well as a weekly food larder, it runs Climatarian Kitchen which turns leftovers into low carbon meals.

The team works out the carbon footprint of each ingredient before converting it into the equivalent car miles.

The aim is to produce meals that are about four or five car miles by eating predominantly plant-based produce.

Founder Dr Emily Connally told the BBC her top five tips for having a climatarian diet.
