Simpson: Libya's Col Gaddafi was an oddball until the end

Libya's ex-leader Col Muammar Gaddafi has been killed after an assault on his birthplace of Sirte, Libyan officials have confirmed.

He was toppled in August after more than four decades in which he repressed and tortured many of his people and was condemned for acts of terrorism abroad including the Lockerbie bombing.

John Simpson looks back at the life of a man who "remained a one-off, an oddball right until the end".
