Inside North Korea: 'It's a mad, sad and bad place'

A BBC reporter has called North Korea "mad, sad and bad - and silly all at the same time" after spending a week undercover in the country.

Investigative journalist for Panorama John Sweeney described how he was able to pose for "cheesy" photographs with the colonel in charge of North Korea's side of the Demilitarised Zone.

And he told BBC World's Lucy Hockings how people in the "dirt poor" countryside were suffering while tourist areas appeared well-manicured.
