Guernsey sex offenders register to be set up

  • Published

The States of Guernsey has agreed to set up a sex offenders register for the Bailiwick.

Funding for the system will have to be agreed in the States Strategic Plan for 2013, when it is expected to come into force.

Deputies also agreed to an overhaul of the sexual offence laws as some of the current ones date back to 1909.

The Home Department said the aim was to protect the public by reducing the risk posed by offenders.
